WINTER 2023-2024

WINTER WAS BUSY!

Winter programming was very successful for City of Refuge - Chicago. The Resource and Care center was able to distribute more resources than every before thanks to partnerships with IKEA and Burlington Stores.

Families all over the south and west sides of Chicago were supplied with brand new clothes, bedding, pillows, towels, and other household goods. The partnership with Good360 also played a huge role in needed items becoming available for distribution. Amazon was once again a fabulous partner blankets, hats, gloves and scarves at several CORC events. Over $75,000 worth of items were distributed.

The Chicago Westside Police and Youth Sports expanded to 9 sites on the Westside of Chicago, AND began the Chicago SOUTHSIDE Police and Youth Sports Conference. Thanks to Lafollotte Park, By the Hand Club Austin, Chicago Jesuit Academy, Peace Corner Youth Center, BUILD, Breakthrough, Leif Ericson Scholastic Academy, and Franklin Park for creating safe and healthy spaces for youth and their families on the westside. A HUGE shoutout to By the Hand Englewood and Salvation Army Red shield Center for getting the southside site going! Over 500 youth and 70 adults participated this season!

The 4th annual Westside Christmas Drive Thru was better than ever this year! Serving over 350 families, 42 volunteers braved the cold and rain to bring light and hope and Christmas cheer to the westside on 12/16. Given away this year were 400 coats, 1200 wrapped gifts, 300 sets of hats, gloves, scarves, 300 Butterball turkeys (thanks AMAZON!) and 300 Spiral Cut Honey Hams (thanks MERIDIAN) stuffed animals, bubbles, hot cocoa, candy and even Mrs. Claus made an appearance!
